All I see
Is a big green Tree
With birds flying by
And the sun shining in my eye
With birds cheeping so loud
And me being so proud
With the sky being so blue
It’s a great place for me and you
This is creation at its best its also a good time to have a rest
To slow everything down
And to look round and round
I can see God everywhere I go
As I watch the sun glow
I can feel God’s presence in the air
And the Grass as soft as my hair
He is the creator of everything that lives
Even the smallest thing that gives

On Thursday, 8th September, St.Pauls Catholic Primary schools open rugby league team travelled to the NSW country town of Temora, about 420km south west of Camden, to play the semi-final of the NSW Catholic and Independent School Shield against St.Annes Central School, Temora. This competition is open to all Catholic and Independent primary schools in NSW. St.Paul’s left Camden at 6.45am and finally reached Temora around midday. The boys did some light stretches and got ready for a 1.30pm kick off. The hill and grandstand at Nixon Park, Temora was filled with most of the St.Anne’s school and quite a number of the local community to cheer on their home side, a true home ground advantage. St.Paul’s started the game with a few simple errors, giving possession and field position to Temora, which they enjoyed for the majority of the first half. After a rev up at half time, St.Pauls returned to the field a noticeably different side for the second half.

Congratulations and Good luck Taylah we are proud of you.

Last Wednesday the 25th of May, our junior and senior rugby league teams travelled to St.Gregs to compete in the Razorback All Schools Rugby League Carnival.
I am pleased to say that both teams did our school extremely proud. Of those two divisions (junior and senior), we made the grand final in both, unfortunately losing both Grand Finals, but runners-up for the day overall. The juniors (Year Four) played a team in the final that hadn't had a point scored against them all day and we gave them their hardest match of the carnival. The juniors went through the carnival undefeated until that game. The semi final against Warragamba was one of the most entertaining games of junior league I’ve seen in a long time, with our boys running out the winners after extra time.
Our seniors played a very hard grand final, only to have Harrington Park score the only try of the match in the last 5 minutes of the game, we only lost 6-0! Our seniors played the entire day (six games), incredibly, with only thirteen players (no reserves). They continued to pick themselves up time and time again to crash back into the opposition. It was only a little tiredness in the backend of the grand final that allowed Harrington Park to score a pretty good try to win the game.

The sportsmanship from both our teams and their support for each other was great as was the support from the parents and coaches. I would especially like to thank Mr. Sam Chanter and Mr. Gavin Bell for coaching the u/10’s and Mr. Jack Estephan and Mrs. Nicole Dickinson for coaching the seniors. A special thank you also to Father Bede who turned up and watched most of the games, including the finals, cheering from "the bench". So, overall, a great day had by all. Well done boys.

Congratulations Bailey, two fantastic sporting achievements in one week.

On May 9 St. Paul’s cricket team won their third round match of the Mark Taylor Shield against St. Clare’s Narellan Vale. St. Paul’s won the toss and elected to bat with all of the top order making solid contributions. Zac (16), Dayne (22), Bailey (31 retired), Vincent (32 retired) and Joel (22) paced themselves well throughout innings to assist in our total of 3 for 145 off 30 overs. St. Clare’s innings started off slowly but safely and lost their first wicket in the 9 over.

Cross Country

In Year Three we are learning about “What is my local community?” We discussed and walked around Camden looking at all the buildings. Year Three decided to fix up Camden a little bit. First we had to draw plan and then with our piece of cardboard make a net of our building. We cut out the net, constructed and decorated our building. We painted the roads of Camden and placed our buildings where we would like them to be. Our new town looked fantastic! Everyone was very proud of their buildings. by Bianca.

Easter Bunny Visits Kindergarten.
Kindergarten were very lucky to have a special visitor to their classrooms. The Easter Bunny made a delivery of Easter Eggs while the children were at the School Liturgy. There was lots of excitement and cheering when the children returned to discover a basket full of eggs on their desks.

On Friday, April 8 Year Six and Kindergarten made their way down to the Camden show. At the start of the day we explored the different exhibits, which included livestock, chickens and the cake competition. After admiring the exhibits we headed off to the reptile show and the Scout camp. After these activities and spending the day together Year 6 learnt a lot more about their Kindergarten Buddies. At the end of the day we were all worn out and sat down for a quiet lunch and watched the School band perform. It was a day we would never forget. By Alex and Vincent
Anzac Day Award

Congratulations to Darcey who won the Camden RSL Sub-Branch Award for her Anzac Day poem.
THEY FOUGHT FOR US
We love Anzac day with all our might,
even though those soldiers fought a very big fight .
We know what Anzac day means for us;
it means love, it means trust.
We hope we do not forget this,
and we hope that you do not too,
because those soldiers fought that very big fight,
for me and for you.

Easter Raffle Winners
Congratulations to all the lucky winners of our Annual Easter Egg Raffle. And a big thank you to all the children and parents for selling the tickets as we managed to raise over $2000.

Five Hope has been studying about Lent. We have been talking about how Lent is a time to fast, pray and do acts of charity (almsgiving). Five Hope has decided to make a food hamper, with a few special Easter treats, for a needy family in our community as our class act of penance. We hope the family that receives our hamper will be able to have a special meal on Easter Sunday as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus!
Dear God,
Bless everybody during Lent.
Help everybody to Change any negative opinions about you and your son Jesus, so they can grow in their faith with you.
Help people to Forgive others and to ask for forgiveness in return.
Help everybody to do acts of Almsgiving, sharing to those especially the poor.
Help people to fast so that all your human creation learns how Jesus felt for 40 days and nights in the desert.
Help us to be more like your son Jesus and appreciate what we have.
So dear God please cleanse us and help us start a new beginning with your resurrection.
AMEN

The traditional camp disco proved to be another hit for all the children. The disco also proved to be the most “dangerous” activity on Day 2 with a few children sustaining some dancing injuries early in the night. After the disco, no one needed any encouragement getting back to their cabins and getting to sleep as everyone was well and truly tired from all the days activities.

We were again greeted with fantastic weather at the start of Day 3 and it wasn’t long before everyone was into their next round of activities and adventures. The children participated in them with great enthusiasm and we even had a few parents (who shall remain nameless) overcoming their fears on the Giant Swing, much to the joy of all the children.
At the conclusion of lunch we gathered to announce the Cooba Team of Champions and to say our goodbyes to all the wonderful staff at Cooba Sport and Education Centre. We are currently all sitting on the bus enjoying our bus trip back to Camden, reliving the great experiences we have had over the past 3 days.

Our thanks must go to our Year 6 teachers, Miss Hanley, Mr Rasmussen and Mr Crawford for their careful planning and hard work getting the camp organised. Their sense of humour and enthusiasm made the camp enjoyable for every single child. We also have to thank our wonderful group of parents and support staff who joined us for the three days. Their presence was greatly appreciated and made the three days run smoothly and without any incident.

Year Six Camp - Day Two at Cooba
We were greeted with perfect weather at the start of day two at Cooba and despite some groups obvious lack of sleep, everyone was waiting with anticipation for the day ahead. It wasn’t long before the children were involved in a range of fantastic activities based around team building and taking initiative.

The Tower involved the children taking on a 9 metre high rock climbing wall with varying difficulty. It was great seeing the children push themselves beyond their comfort zone and reach the top of the wall to “ring” the bell. Next the children had to abseil down another wall from a height of 10 metres. After conquering this challenge, most were ready for anything else the day had to offer.

The Giant Swing was next on the agenda for some groups. After being lifted by their teammates to a height of 15 metres, children then had to decide whether to be gently lowered back down to earth or release themselves from the rope and swing their way down. A lot of screams and squeals came from this activity all through the day.

The Dirt Buggies was a favourite activity all through the day. There were plenty of thrills as the children got behind the wheels of these exciting machines and pretended to be The Stig as they tried to post the quickest lap.

The Short Ropes Course involved a lot of teamwork and ingenuity as the children tried to problem solve their way through a series of rope challenges. It didn’t take the children long to work out that without cooperation was the key to success.

The Team Initiatives activities really tested the children’s patience and persistence as they worked their way through another range of problem solving activities. It was wonderful seeing children’s leadership qualities come to fore as they had to think flexibly to complete their challenges.

After all the activities were completed for the day, the children had some rest and relaxation time were they managed to have some time for a swim and challenge themselves on the jumping pillow.
We are now preparing ourselves for the night ahead that will include the traditional camp disco where we hope to see some wonderful new moves from all our dancers.
More details tomorrow
